Lamy Pens |

Lamy pens can be described in three words: innovation, design and quality. These are Lamy’s core values since Dr. Manfred Lamy, a former sales representative for The Parker Pen Company, joined the company. The philosophy behind the design of each pen is the Bauhaus movement – form follows function (a modern approach to design that operated between 1919 and 1933). This concise motto made Lamy pens internationally renowned for their outstanding quality, superior technological advances and cutting-edge design.

Lamy was launched in 1930 by C. Josef Lamy, and the first pens carrying Lamy brand name emerged in 1952. Since then Lamy pens have won an army of loyal users among architects, engineers, designers, artists and many more. Each year Lamy produces more than six million of various writing instruments. The product range includes fountain pens, ballpoint pens, rollerballs, mechanical pencils and multifunction pens. Multisystem pens by Lamy, which combine a ballpoint pen and another feature can include up to four different writing instruments. These can be a ballpoint pen and a mechanical pencil, as Studio Twin Pen, or a ballpoint pen, a mechanical pencil, a marker and a touchscreen pen as in Lamy 4Pen.
Numerous designs in the Lamy product range have won awards. The Pico has won a red dot award for design, and the Studio has won both the ‘Good Design Award’ and the iF Design award in 2005. Many of the designs such as the 2000 (since 1966) and Safari (since 1980) have been implemented continuously since their inception. The 2000 was innovative for its day because it used a special fibre glass resin produced by Bayer, Makrolon. Several noted designers have produced pen designs for Lamy, including Richard Sapper (designer of the ThinkPad) who designed the Dialog1.
Known for its cutting-edge innovative designs Lamy utilizes the most advanced technologies and materials to produce reliable quality pens. The materials Lamy uses are innovations in their own right with fiberglass, brushed stainless steel, briar wood or anodised aluminium among many others. Most Lamy lines come in various colours to suit the most demanding and sophisticated tastes. Should you be thinking of a pen gift, Lamy pens look stunning and with an engraving make your present even more personal and unique.
